Renewing your pet insurance
At petGuard, we like to keep things simple when it comes to renewing your policy. 14 days before your renewal date, we'll send you details of your renewal, which will include:
- The price to insure your pet with us for the next 12 months.
- Your policy documentation, including:
- Policy Terms and Conditions
- Insurance Product Information Document (IPID)
- Notice to policyholder document
- You will only be provided with this document if your Policy Terms and Conditions have changed compared to your last policy term. We do this to keep you updated on the changes that we’ve made and to make sure the cover continues to meet your needs.
It's important that you read and understand all the documentation that we send to you. If you have any questions, or if any of the information we hold for is incorrect, please contact a member of our renewals team on 01423 447 365.
If we don’t hear from you, we will assume that the information we hold is accurate and up to date. Also, that you are happy with the cover being provided and it continues to meet your needs.
How do I renew my pet insurance policy?
To keep things as easy as possible for you, we will automatically renew your policy using the same details that you have provided to us in your last policy term. Providing you are happy with the cover being offered and the price of the policy for the upcoming year, you don't need to do anything else.
Paying for the policy by Direct Debit
You will continue to benefit from cover if your monthly Direct Debit payments are kept up to date.
If we can’t collect your payment on the first attempt, we will tell you when we will attempt to collect this again. If the second attempt to collect your payment is also unsuccessful, your cover will be in payment arrears. If you fail to pay for your cover, we will terminate your policy from the date that the last collected payment provides cover up to.
We must make you aware that if we cannot collect your payment on time, you may be charged a late payment fee. This will be collected at the same time that your next Direct Debit payment is due.
Paying for the policy in full by card annually
We will attempt to collect your renewal payment up to 5 days before your policy is due to renew, this is to make sure there is no loss of cover. If we try to collect the payment and it is unsuccessful, your cover will be in payment arrears. If you fail to pay for your cover before your renewal date, your policy will not renew and we will assume that the policy is no longer needed and cover will end on your renewal date.
If you tell us that you don’t want us to automatically renew your policy, we will write to you 14 days before your renewal date. This will include details of your premium for the upcoming year, along with your payment options. You can get in touch with us by calling 01423 447 365. If we do not hear from you, your cover will end on your renewal date.
How do I stop my policy from automatically renewing?
If you would like to discuss your renewal or make changes, we are always happy to help and go over your options with you.
If you've changed your mind and have decided that you do not want to renew your policy with us, then you can either get in touch with us by calling 01423 447 365, or alternatively, by email on petguardrenewals@ncionline.co.uk.
